Abstract
Chapter one is focusing on the definition of steel industry, generated solid waste and waste accumulation problems due to lack of use of the generated waste. Also efforts to utilize these wastes as alternative materials in other applications instead of landfill. the different application of steel industry waste were listed specially steel slag aggregates that utilized in road base construction, cement and concrete application. The properties of Iron oxide by-product is also illustrated and its application in water treatment application. The impact of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, Mercury , Zinc and copper are mentioned in aquatic environment and their impact on human health.
