Abstract
In the future, the current commercial gasoline will be no longer available because it depends on fossil fuel. Also, fuel used in transportation system is a major cause for global warming. So, there is a necessity to use alternative fuels. Bioethanol is one of these alternatives. Indeed, the four blends E10, E20, E25 and M9 - that were used in this study - showed good results according to international standards for fuel used in SI engines. Also, addition of ST80 gave it good water tolerance properties, and low corrosion rate. Also, E25 with ST80 showed good performance in SI engines, and it has lower CO and NOx emissions rather than the commercial gasoline. The use of these four blends as an alternative for gasoline help in the decrease of greenhouse gases besides being a sustainable fuel for the future. These blends showed good results in commercial semi old vehicle used in Egyptian market.
