Abstract

Shift change has always been a vital element of the nursing care process, and communication is a core element in this process especially during the transfer of information. The staff nurses shift change is a report given when the nursing professional transfers the responsibility for the patients and what has been done in his/her shift to another that is arriving. The transfer of this essential information and responsibility for care of the patient from one nurse on duty to another, is an integral component of communication system in nursing care practice which supports the transition of critical information and continuity of care and treatment. The shift change is complex and includes communication between the change of shift, communication between care providers about patient care, shift records, and information tools to assist in patient care. Aim of the study is to determine effect of management intervention program on ICUs staff nurses9 shift change process at El Menshawy Hospital. Study design: quasi-experimental research design was used to achieve the aim of the present study. The study was conducted at El Menshawy General Hospital, subject consisted of all (n=164) staff nurses working at ICUs include pediatric (n=22), cardiology (n=20), neonatal (n=56), neurological (n=13), and medical (n=53). To achieve the aim of the study two tool were used.
