Abstract The etiology of familial mediterranean fever (FMF) is not completely understood. Uncontrolled clinical case series have reported that factors associated with emotional, physiological, or physical stress precede and might trigger the attacks. The aim of this study was to study the association among occurrence of FMF attacks and possible preceding triggers. The study was conducted on 30 patients who attended the rheumatology clinic of the children{u2019}s hospital - Cairo university, diagnosed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as FMF, both homozygote’s and heterozygote’s, from May 2013 to July 2013. Participants have been subjected to a baseline interview and two follow up calls, the 1st call was one month after the baseline interview and the 2nd call was one month later, medical records of patients were reviewed. Scoring systems (Block Fat Screener, Depression and scale for children, spence children{u2019}s anxiety scale and child behavior checklist 6 - 18 years) were used to assess fat in food, depression, anxiety and behavior respectively |
