Abstract

The radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has led to effective primary treatment using radiation with or without chemotherapy. Despite modern radiotherapy techniques, recurrent or persistent disease remains challenging. This study included ten patients who underwent endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for primary or recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma between May 2012 and January 2015. Average age was 43.5 years, four males and six females. Chemoradiotherapy was received postoperatively for all patients. Margin status and complications were evaluated. Mean follow-up period was 17.5 months. Overall survival rate is 100% at the end of this study with 10% recurrence. No major complications. Endoscopic nasopharyngectomy is feasible, direct, effective and safe surgery. However, more patients with longer follow up duration, also control group treated by CRT alone without surgery is highly recommended
