Abstract

Fellow eyes showed abnormalities in VEP and OCT findings, and are thus considered an important part of the plan of management of a patient with unilateral optic neuropathy due to multiple sclerosis. They also shed light on the importance of the ophthalmic examination of patients with multiple sclerosis with no history of optic neuropathy, because they could be considered to have ”two fellow seemingly unaffected eyes ”There is no simple answer for the question ”Which is better ; VEP or OCT in optic neuropathy due to multiple sclerosis?’ The subject of this work is multi-faceted where each investigation has an advantage and a disadvantage .We can conclude that latency measured by VEP is the most sensitive parameter in the detection of optic neuropathy in multiple sclerosis , and is thus valuable in the functional assessment of the disease. We can conclude that RNFL and GCC thickness measured by optical coherence tomography reflect disease burden because of their correlation with the number of attacks of optic neuropathy and in that respect are superior to Visual evoked potentials
