Abstract
Benzopyrones and furobenzopyrones are significant class of natural compounds isolated mainly from higher plants associated to the families of Rutaceae. They have a broad range and diversity of biological activities such as antibacterial, antihistaminic, vasorelaxant and bronchodilation activities. Cardiovascular diseases [coronary heart diseases, hypertension and peripheral artery diseases] are by far the main causes of the world wide mortality. Vasorelaxants, vascular smooth muscle agents, are considered one of the most important classes for management of hypertension. Bronchial asthma is considered one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide. Airway hyper-responsiveness to histamine is a hallmark of asthma, and histamine inhalation reproduces asthma symptoms. The H1 receptor antagonists have been proved to play an important role for a number of clinical indications including allergic conditions, chronic idiopathic urticaria, motion sickness, vertigo, insomnia and asthma.
