Abstract Egypt has the highest prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) worldwide. PEG IFN alpha and Ribavirin has become the standard of care treatment in chronic HCV. Ophthalmological side effects are well recognized complications of IFN therapy. To study the incidence of IFN - induced ophthalmological manifestations in patients with chronic HCV received SOC therapy (PEG-IFN and RBV) and to assess the effect of the IFN duration, the treatment response and the impact of systemic risk factors on the severity of these complications. IFN - induced retinopathy is not a rare complication along SOC therapy. Ophthalmological assessment at base-line time and at regular follow up periods during IFN treatment is very important |
