Abstract
This thesis is studying the rheological properties of three different types of Al {u2013} Barkan bentonite ore. It was proved that the apparent viscosity of the three ores is changed under constant shear rate (thixotropic ores). The effect of particle size, aging time, Na content and water content were studied on the nature of flow and the degree of thixotropy. A statistical model was used to specify the effect of each studied factor on shear stress, apparent viscosity and the degree of thixotropy. The optimum specifications to use this ore as a drilling mud were also determined
