Abstract

Paracetamol and diclofenac are commonly used analgesics, result in serious adverse outcomes including hepatotoxicity. The potential hepatoprotective effect of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and nifedipine was investigated in rats against acute hepatic injury induced by paracetamol (600 mg/kg) or diclofenac (100 mg/kg). Animals were classified into 9 groups (n = 8). The 1st group recived 1% tween 80 and served as normal. group 2 received paracetamol (600 mg/kg) on the seventh day. group 3 received diclofenac (100 mg/kg) on the 7th and 8th day. Three groups received silymarin (50 mg/kg) as a reference standard, nifedipine (10 mg/kg) or CoQ10 (10 mg/kg) for 7 days and paracetamol 600 (mg /kg) on the 7th day. The remaining 3 groups were received the test drugs for 8 days and diclofenac (100 mg/kg) on the 7th and 8th day
