Abstract

Construction of earth embankments on soft clay formations is a difficult challenge . Embankments on soft soils supported by geosynthetics and rigid piles may provide a rapid and efficient solution this study aims to highlifght the role of some parameters that may be of a noticeable impact on numerically analysing / designing such embankments such as the area ratio, the properties of the clay formation, the effect of pile caps, stiffness/number of layers of the geosynthtics on the piled embankment systems and the height of the supported embankment
