Abstract The thesis consists of three parts. Part I: It includes a brief introduction to selected antispasmodic compounds. Part II: This part includes stability indicating methods for determination of mebeverine hydrochloride. Degradation of mebeverine was studied under acidic and alkaline stress conditions and the degradation products formed after complete degradation were identified using Infra Red and Mass spectroscopic techniques. Determination of mebeverine in the presence of its degradation products was achieved using High Performance Liquid chromatography coupled to Ultra Violet and Fluorescence detectors. Ultra Performance Liquid chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometric detection was used. Several spectrophotometric methods were used, which are the mean centering of ratio spectra method, the extended ratio subtraction method followed by direct spectrophotometry, and first derivative calculation by numerical differentiation and continuous wavelet transforms method. Synchronous Fluorescence Spectroscopic technique was utilized through the calculation of double divisor of ratio spectra by numerical differentiation and continuous wavelet transforms |
