Abstract Construction of bivariate lifetime distributions of Marshall{u2212}Olkin type and estimation of their parameters using maximum likelihood method is the main topic in this thesis. Parameters estimation are obtained first for complete samples then for Type I censored samples with and without expectation maximization algorithm. Bivariate distributions of Marshall{u2212}Olkin type: bivariate distribution with Gompertz marginals, with generalized Gompertz marginals and with log{u2212}exponentiated kumaraswamy marginals are constructed. For all these distributions joint survival functions or joint cumulative functions and joint probability density functions are obtained.
