Abstract

The first part was designed to investigate the electrical properties of some conducting polymers e.g.: [Poly (aniline hydrochloride), Poly (ơ-aminophenol) and poly (p- aminophenol)], and their polymer composites prepared by in-situ polymerization of the monomers in presence of carbon and graphite. The electrical conductivity was measured at room temperature and at frequency 5 MHz. The electrochemical behaviors and electro- oxidation of poly ơ-aminophenol (PơAP) were also investigated. The second part of this study was demonstrated to prepare some modified (phosphate pigments/aminophenol) composites of Zn, Ca and Ca-Zn phosphates by in-situ polymerization of aminophenol in presence of the mentioned phosphate pigments. The modified phosphate pigments were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for steel in presence of very small doses of the modified phosphate pigments. The investigated samples showed high performance corrosion protection for steel, which may be due to some types of interaction between the poly (ơ-aminophenol and phosphate pigments) which act as a film barrier on the iron surface due to complex formation between nitrogen atom through the lone pair of electron forming co-ionic bond and OH group of amino phenol with the iron surface
