Abstract

cAMP Responsive element modulator (CREM) is one of the most important transcription factors expressed in male testes, CREM expression switches from a repressor to an activator in testes during spermatogenesis. Eighty eight testicular biopsies were histologically evaluated. Total RNA was extracted and profiled for the presence of CREM activators and/or repressors. Normal spermatogenesis group, representing 20%, of the total studied samples showed expression of normal CREM{uF074}2{uF020}activator with intact transactivating domain and gamma repressor, the same finding with another alpha repressor was detected in Hypospermatogenesis group which was representing 22%, of the total studied samples. Approximately 90% of the Round spermatid maturation arrest group, representing 23% from the total samples, showed only two CREM repressors, the other 10% showed altered CREM{uF074}2 transcripts and one repressor
