Abstract

This study was designed to introduce some ideas for nonconventional vascular access in pediatric age group and evaluate their efficacy and patency . Results: Our study included 21 patients who underwent 32 nonconventional vascular access procedures trying to introduce a life saving access for HD in 19 ppatients suffering from ESRD, for TPN in one patient with kwashiorkor disease and for chemotherapy in a patient with abdominal neuroblastoma, 17 catheter insertion procedures (6 IVC, 5 neck collaterals, 3 innominate vein, one in Lt hepatic vein and one in Lt gonadal vein) with primary patency (3,5, 1,6, 3, 4, 4, 12) months and 15 AVF procedures (6 brachial A and its venacomittants, 5 GSV interposition between brachial A and axillary vein, two dorsal vein interposition between brachial A and axillary vein, one ulno-basilic fistula and popliteal-GSV AVF)with primary patency (5,3, 6,2, 0, 12, 12)
