Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate the effect of platelet rich plasma (PRP) on the post-operative bleeding in anticoagulated patients undergoing minor oral surgery with no significant modifications of oral anticoagulant therapy. Methods: Forty patients on anticoagulant therapy were selected. Twenty patients received PRP gel in the extraction sockets immediately after extraction, where the other twenty patients{u2019} sockets were left empty to serve as the control group of the study. The parameter evaluated was bleeding from the socket which was recorded post-operatively after one hour and after one day. Results: The study showed that there was no statistical significant difference between the control and the PRP groups regarding incidence of severe postoperative bleeding
