Abstract In this dissertation we introduce a new coherence protocol called distributed - directory cache coherence protocol3 (DDCCP). In this protocol, we simply distribute directory between L1 and L2 caches. Directory in L2 has information about L1 owners of cache blocks, while Directory in L1 has information about all L1 sharers. Directory is no more centralized in L2 cache. Splitting directory information between L1 and L2 caches helps minimizing L1 - L2 traffic. This improves performance and help speed - up the system. DDCP achieve enhancements in performance up to 7%, decrease network usage by 11% and minimize L1 - L2 traffic by 42%. |
