Abstract Oxidoreductases from various microbial sources have proven a significant role in the removal of organic pollutants due to the wide range of reactions that have been documented. The application of these enzymes in the removal of cyclohexane and its derivatives has attracted great attention over the past decades. Several researchers have studied the role of oxidoreductases in the aerobic and anaerobic degradative pathways of cyclohexane. In our study, a new bacterial consortium ”Con B209” that grows aerobically on cyclohexanol was isolated from the Egyptian environment. This consortium showed capabiliy of utilizing cyclohexanol (1000 mg.l-1) in less than 120 h. The best conditions for complete cyclohexanol consumption were found to be temperatures of 30oC and 37oC and pH values ranging from 7.2 and up to 8.5 at an agitation rate of 180 rpm |
