Abstract

A total of thirty patients were selected with specific criteria as: patients with age ranging from 18 - 45 requiring class II cavities in their molars, with two cavities at least for each patient. The teeth should have normal occlusal relationship with normal dentition, excluding patients with high caries index, severe periodontitis, hypomineralization, hypocalcification, cross bite, bad oral hygiene, tilted or missing opposing and those with fractured or cracked teeth. Sixty class II cavity preparations (occluso-mesial or occluso-distal cavities) were prepared using 245 Bur. Two different types of resin composite restorations were used following the manufacturer instructions (Filtek P90 and Filtek Z250XT). The Clinical evaluation was done blindly at each recall appointment (baseline, six, twelve and eighteen months). Each restoration was clinically evaluated following modified united states public health service (USPHS) criteria. Evaluation of the restorations was done carefully by two observers to evaluate each of the tooth color match, marginal integrity, proximal contact, post operative hypersensitivity and occlusal wear
