Abstract

Microbial resistance is a global concern that needs great attention and urgent intervention; otherwise, the world could pass into a post-antibiotic era. Egypt is among countries that showed growing reports of MDR and even PDR strains with limited effective treatment options, if any. As an attempt form our side to find an effective solution. The main objective of this study was the isolation and characterization of new phages against antibiotic-resistant bacterial isolates and evaluation of the most efficient one to effectively control bacterial infection in vitro and in vivo. We have isolated 180 Gram negative isolates including E. coli, P.aeruginosa, and K. pneumoniae from different clinical samples from patients resided in Tanta University Hospitals. Antibiotic sensitivity testing revealed wild strains showed resistance profile of MDR, XDR, and evenPNo suggestions bacterial hosts were selected as a prey to isolate effective lytic phages using hospital sewage as source
