Abstract The present study investigated some of the endoparasitic metazoa infecting selected commercial important marine water fishes in Egypt. Two hundred and seventy seventy-six fish specimens representing six different species of six families were collected during the period from June 2019/ to August 2020 from Hurghada coasts along the Red Sea and Alexandria city along the Mediterranean Sea. Three different species of digenean parasites were recovered during the present study which were Proenenterum sp., Lecithocladium sp. and Lecithochirium grandiporum, three different larval stages of cestodes were Callitetrarhynchs speciouses, Kotorella pronosoma and Nybelinia bisulcata. Five different species of nematode parasites were recorded identified as Gnathostoma sp., Anisakis typica, Contracaecum sp., Hysterothylacium amoyense, Hysterothylacium aduncum. Finally, only one species of acanthocephalan parasites was observed and it was Serrasentis sagittifer. All of the parasites were described morphologically and morphometrically mainly by both light and scanning electron microscopes. Also molecular analysis were performed to make taxonomic justification of three showed great similarities morphological features (Anisakis typica, Contracaecum sp., and Hysterothylacium amoyense). |
