Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to provide an enhanced network analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) functionalities to identify best escape route from different locations inside the underground mine in emergency situations or accidents e.g., fires, to a safe place either in or outside the mine. the system provides an effective evacuation system based on the real dimensions of the mine, its related elements, and fire dynamics. The computational model, along with GIS technology, was successfully utilized to predict possible fire outbreak scenarios in the EL-Maghara coal mine.
