The study aimed to identify the direct effect of Perceived Stigma on Depression among parents of students with intellectual disability, and to Identify the direct effect of Self-compassion on Depression, as well as to Identify the direct effect of Perceived Stigma on Self-compassion, and finally to reveal the structural model that explains the relationships between Perceived stigma and depression in the presence of self-compassion as a mediating variable among parents of students with intellectual disability. The study sample consisted of (201) parents of students with intellectual disability, their ages ranged between (23-68) years, with an average age of (40.13), and a standard deviation (9.49). The study used the perceived stigma scale and the self-compassion scale prepared by the researcher, and the ”Beck” scale for depression, the second version (Translated and Arabization by Gharib, 2000). The study concluded that there is a direct, statistically significant effect at the level of (o.o1) for the total score and for some dimensions of perceived stigma on depression among parents of students with intellectual disability. There was also a direct, statistically significant effect at the level of (o.o1) for the total score and some dimensions of self-compassion on depression in the study sample. There was also a direct, statistically significant effect at the level of (o.o1) for the total score and for some dimensions of perceived stigma on the total degree and some dimensions of self-compassion among the study sample. Finally, there was a Structural model that explains the relationships between perceived stigma and depression in the presence of self-compassion as a mediating variable for parents of students with intellectual disability.
