Abstract All patients in this study underwent ophthalmic examination before starting the session in ophthalmology clinic and blood pressure was measured simultaneously using mercury sphygmomanometer. Examination included: • Medical and ocular history. • Complete ophthalmic examination: a) Visual acuity (VA). b) Anterior segment examination of the eye by slit lamp with exclusion of corneal abnormality, corneal surface irregularity or surgery and current eye infection. • Measurement of IOP by HAAg STREIT BERN Goldmann applanation tonometer approximately 15 minutes before starting hemodialysis and 15 minutes after ending hemodialysis by the same operator taking average of three readings. Technique of IOP measurement by applanation tonometer: • The local anesthetic drops were instilled and then the fluorescein. Only a very small amount of fluorescein is needed. • For measuring the IOP in the right eye, the slit beam shined onto the tonometer head from the patient’s right side; for the left eye, the beam should come from the patient’s left side. • The filters were moved so that the blue filter is used to produce a blue beam. • The beam of light w |
