Abstract MOOC is a web-based course that is designed and delivered to anyone with a smart device and internet connection, regardless of age, gender, educational background, or geographic location. MOOC has become a popular mechanism to disseminate new knowledge and skills to a large number of learners. Thus, MOOC can be utilized in the most important topic among females which is menstrual disorders. MOOCs not only invite global learners to acquire new knowledge; but also they increase learners’ engagement within the online course. Despite the availability of numerous courses on MOOC platform in many fields, there is a lack of empirical evidence supporting the use of MOOC especially in nursing education. Research aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) about menstrual disorders on female nursing students’ knowledge, engagement and satisfaction Research hypotheses: 1- Female nursing students who study menstrual disorders through MOOC exhibit higher level of knowledge than before it. 2- Female nursing students who study menstrual disorders through MOOC exhibit high engagement level during it . 3- Female nursing students who study menstrual disorders through MOOC exhibit high satisfaction level after it. Materials: Research design: A pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test research design was used in this study. Setting: This study was carried out at the Faculty of Nursing, Alexandria University. |
