Abstract
• Long term follow up of the group of patients who underwent elective lymphadenctomy to evaluate the disease free survival and overall survival.
• Comparison between the outcomes and survival in patients who were treated with the routine thyroidectomy with or without therapeutic lymphadenectomy and those who were offered prophylactic lymphadenectomy.
• Study the pattern of recurrence in patients who were offered prophylactic lymphadenectomy and those who were treated with the routine thyroidectomy with or without therapeutic lymphadenectomy.
• Further molecular and genetic studies should be carried to assess the biological behavior of tumors to allow more targeted groups to be offered lymphadenectomy.
