Abstract This thesis deals with the sedimentological analysis and reservoir characterization of some Cretaceous, Eocene and Oligocene formations encountered in wells E375H -59, E377H -59, E376H - 59, A13 -NC59, A4 -59, P3-NC98, Galo (NC59) and Block (NC98) fields, Ajdabiya Trough, south east of Sirte Basin, north central Libya. The research was based on the integrating and interpretation of the well logging data and characteristics for determination of the reservoir characterization of some Mesozoic and Cenozoic rock units. Identification of the lithofacies types and depositional environments of the studied Cretaceous, Eocene and Oligocene deposits are based on the conventual analysis wireline log data (gamma ray, resistivity, density and neutron) in wells (E375H -59, E376H - 59, E377H -59, A13 -NC59, A4 -59, P3-NC98) and on the data mentioned in the internal reports of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO). Each lithofacies is defined according to its sedimentological characteristics that include lithology, sedimentary structures, grain size, texture, and fossil content. Deduction of the different depositional environments of the studied Paleogene and Cretaceous sediments are based on identification of lithofacies and facies associations. Reservoir petrophysical parameters (total and effective porosity, permeability, clay volume and fluid saturations) for the studied formations in the studied six wells (E375H -59E, E377H -59E, E376H –59E, A13 -NC59, A4 -59, P3-NC98) were calculated using a complete suite of wireline logs. Digital raw data in Lass format of conventional wireline logs were obtained. Typical log suite included self- potential, caliper, gamma-ray, deep, intermediate and shallow resistivity, density, neutron, sonic log and composite logs for six wells. These log data represent the raw INPUT for the used ””interactive petrophysical program (Techlog) software. The petrophysical evaluation of the studied rock units was |
