Abstract
The present study was designed to record the anti-RA effects and possible mechanisms of action of Ashwagandha roots extract on adjuvant induced multiple-joint arthritis in rat, an animal model of autoimmunity diseases with great similarities to rheumatoid arthritis. To investigate the therapeutic effects Ashwagandha roots extract on complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced arthritis the following steps will be performed:
-Determination of LD50 of extract
-In vivo study to evaluate anti-inflammatory effect of tested extract
The following parameters will be determined:
1 Clinical Scoring of Arthritis (paw volume)
2 Biochemical parameters
Oxidative stress parameters
Evaluation of cytokine Interleukin 1beta-,
Interleukin 6 and TNF-α and COX1 and COX2
3 Histopathological studies:
Histological sections for hind paw of experimental Animals.
