Abstract

These studies are concerned with Cacyreus marshalli butterfly infesting some Pelargonium spp. and Geranium spp. plants. Population fluctuations, biological and morphological studies of C. marshalli butterfly were done. These studies were carried out in some Alexandria Governorate gardens during the years of 2017 to 2020.
The study also aimed to achieve several objectives, namely:
A. Study the population fluctuations of the geranium bronze (C. marshalli), insects infesting Pelargoium spp. and Geranium spp. plant species in some locations in Egypt during January 2017 to December 2020, to determine the adaptation of the insect to its
host plants, also for detected the main attractive plant for the butterfly, C.marshalli.
B. Biological studies of C. marshalli, under semi-field conditions.
C. Study the morphology of this butterfly since it is new pest of Pelargoium spp. in Egypt.
The study reached several results, the most important summarized as follow:
A. Ecological studies:
For studying the population fluctuations of C. marshalli monthly inspection were
carried out under field conditions in untreated gardens at Alexandria Governorate. These gardens are Bab Sharqi and Abis region gardens during two successive years (2017 & 2018).
 Determining the main attractive plant to butterfly, Cacyreus marshalli during 2017 and 2018.
The population fluctuation of C. marshalli which infested P. inquinans were the main liable to be attacked, those harvests 569.65 individual during 2017 and 2018 P.
peltatum double petals, harvested 545.99 individual, those were more liable to be attacked than P. peltatum single petals which harvested 507.65 individual. While P. zonal harvested 466.98 individual was more liable to be attacked than P. hortorum which harvested 420.65
individual. While C. marshalli infested P.grandiflorum harvested 343.65 individual was more liable to be attacked than those whose host plant were P. graveolens (235.65
individual).
