Abstract Abstract (not more than 200 words): Nano-sized Titanium substituted Lithium Ferrites with general formula Li0.5+0.5xFe2.5-1.5xTixO4 (where x=0, 0.4, 0.6 and 1) were synthesized using two methods; the double sintering ceramic method and the citrate-nitrate auto-combustion method. The effect of (Li, Ti) content and the preparation method were studied. Li0.5Fe2.5O4 in the two preparation methods confirmed ordered structure (P4332) and the rest of the samples confirmed disordered structure (Fd-3m). Le bail and Rietveld fitting were used for determining the structure of the samples from X-Ray diffraction data. The morphological features were studied using Field emission scanning electron microscopy. The microstructure was observed using the high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The selected area electron diffraction were indexed for all the samples and the results confirmed the results of the X-ray diffraction fitting. The magnetic properties were studied for the samples at room temperature using the vibrating sample magnetometer. It is noticed that with increasing concentration (x), Fe 3+ were substituted by Li+ in tetrahedral sites (A) and Ti4+ in octahedral site (B) that led to a decrease in the saturation magnetization and that decrease is attributed by Neel two-sublattice model. Both particle and grain size decrease with increasing concentration (x). |
