Abstract
Summary The COVID-19 pandemic is considered a major public health problem all over the world; it led to morbidity and mortality as well as economic and social disruption. There is no standard treatments for COVID-19. To overcome this disease, implementation of preventive behaviors and the compliance with guidelines issued by health authorities is necessary to slow the spread of the virus. Also, identifying barriers is an important issue in this regard. The aim of the study was to identify the perception, practice of mothers in a rural area for prevention of COVID-19 infection and barriers facing them when dealing with this pandemic. Convenient sample was included in the study. It included 400 mothers who were attending Kafr Esam primary health care center. A cross sectional study was conducted in Kafr Esam primary health care center from January 2021up to December 2022.A predesigned questionnaire sheet was developed by the researcher in order to collect the necessary data. The studied mothers were interviewed to fill it which included the following items: 1- Socio-demographic data. 2- Past history of infection with COVID-19. 3- Knowledge items: Modes of transmission and spread of infection as respiratory droplets of infected individuals during sneezing or coughing, methods of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection as isolation and treatment of infected people, who are susceptible to COVID ـ19, how long is incubation period and what are the symptoms.
