Abstract

Fetal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is one of the major causes of neonatal mortality and morbidity.
Previous studies to predict the risk of (RDS) were based on the evaluation of amniotic fluid phospholipid composition however these are invasive procedures and can do harm to both the mother and fetus.
Our study was conducted to study the value of using non- invasive diagnostic method by measuring fetal pulmonary artery indices to group of 120 pregnant women of different gestational ages before and after dexamethasone administration.
The aim of this study was to assess the value of using such indices in predicting risk of RDS neonatal outcome.
Our results were statistically analyzed to show the importance of such tool in the diagnosis.
Our study showed that in early preterm gestation, the use of pulmonary artery indices is correlated with neonatal outcome more correctly than its use in late gestational age
