Abstract

Objectives: The objective of the present study was an attempt to estimate stature and gender from cephalic measurements in Egyptian candidates. Subjects and Methods: Four hundred (400) healthy Egyptian adults (200 Males and 200 Females) aged between 21-29 years were recruited. Stature and five cephalometric parameters (Head circumference, Maximum head length, Maximum head breadth, Biocular width and Mouth width) of each subject were measured. Data were analyzed by using statistical software SPSS-22. Results: The present study showed that there is positive highly statistical significant correlation between stature and the cephalometric parameters. Also the cephalometric parameters showed highly statistical significant difference between male and female studied groups and were able to estimate gender with accuracy value 82.8% through discriminant score. Conclusion: The present study proved that cephalometric parameters show good reliability and applicability for stature estimation and gender identification. Application of the concluded regression equations and discriminant score and usage of cephalometric anthropology into clinical practice is recommended
