Abstract

The main goal of the present study was the analysis of Ý-lactamase production in S.aureus isolates from human and bovine mastitis and the association of Ý-lactamase production to methicillin and other antibiotic resistance. In this concern, a trial to trace infection and the potential man to animal cross infection was considered. S.aureus strains cultured from clinical specimens (human &bovine) using standard bacteriological methods. Ý- lactamase production was assayed using Cefinase disk method and MRSA was detected using Cefoxitin sensitivity test. The association of Ý-lactamase production and basic test results as carotenoid pigment and hemolysin production was analyzed. For conducting this work 173quarter samples were collected from apparently healthy animals (108 from cows and 65 from buffaloes). As well as 67 samples from human cases were collected (urine, abscesses and blood from diseased human). Samples were obtained from patient in clinics of Cairo University Hospitals. The obtained results revealed that, 53.70% and 43.08% of apparently normal cows and buffalo’s quarter milk samples reacted positively to CMT, respectively
