Abstract Transient LES predictions using DFSD model have been conducted for turbulent premixed hydrogen flames deflagrated over several solid obstacles in a lab scale explosion chamber. Base flow configuration was used to study the effect of mixture strength on the flow characteristics; peak overpressure, and flame structure. Number and position of turbulence generating plates were found to have a significant effect on the generated peak overpressure and other flame characteristics. Results from LES predictions were found to be at good agreements with experimental datd the usage of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in combustion devices |
