Abstract

This study evaluate the shear bond strength of enamic hybrid ceramic using two types of luting agents with different bonding protocols. Ten freshly extracted human mandibular first molar teeth free from any defects were selected for this study. Then ten Enamic hybrid ceramic disc samples 8 mm in a diameter, 2 mm in thickness were designed and milled using Isomet microsaw. The samples were classified into two main groups: group I: (n = 5) Five discs shaped samples of Enamic cemented to dentin samples with adhesive resin cement employing self-adhesive approach (relyX unicem). group II (n = 12) Five discs shaped samples of enamic cemented to dentin samples with adhesive cement employing total etch approach (etch and rinse) (variolink N). The shear bond strength measurement was done using universal testing machine and scanning electron microscopic was used to evaluate the mode of failure. Data presented as mean, standard deviation (SD), standard error (SE), minimum, maximum, frequency and percentage values when appropriate. Data explored for normality using kolmogorov smirnov test. Shear bond test (SBS) (MPa) data showed parametric distribution; Independent t- test used to study the effect of different cement materials on mean Shear bond test (SBS) (MPa). Failure Mode evaluated using Chi square test. The significance level was set at P {u2264} 0.05.: Self adhesive relyX{u2122} unicem (group 1 ”RX”) (8.83±1.82 MPa) showed the lowest mean shear bond test (SBS) (MPa) compared to total etch Variolink (group 2 ”V”) (10.56 ± 1.85 MPa) at p = 0.175 and In both groups the type of failure was adhesive cohesive
