Abstract This thesis is concerned with development of different analytical methods for studying the impurity profile of some cephalosporins. Impurity profile includes analysis of residual solvents that remained after products synthesis or selective determination of drugs in presence of different types of impurities as synthesis by-products, impurities produced during storage or stereochemistry-related impurities. The aim of the present work is to develop accurate, precise and selective methods for analysis of residual solvents in different cephalosporin samples using headspace gas chromatographic method, determination of cefditoren pivoxil in presence of its possible degradation products using HPLC method, and simultaneous determination of cephradine and its synthetic precursor cephalexin using multivariate spectrophotometric methods. These methods can be used for routine work in quality control analysis of the investigated drugs either in bulk powder or in pharmaceutical formulation |
