Abstract
Computer vision field seeks to make the computer more intelligent. One of the important fields in Computer vision is 2Face detection and Recognition3 which is the process of locating (detection) and identifying (recognition) of persons{u2019} faces in the image. Detection and recognition of facial images is an important step in many applications. Many face detection algorithms were invented to reach the goal of locating faces in the digital image ignoring anything else. On the other hand many research efforts were proposed to solve face recognition problems by identifying faces in the image based on a given database. The main problem, which we seek to solve in this research, is to develop a novel algorithm which simultaneously detects and recognizes faces in images with different format, poses, and light effects. The novelty of this algorithm is that face detection and face recognition processes are based on the same feature vector, extracted by our proposed algorithm; two dimensional representation of histogram of oriented gradients in conjunction with two dimensional principal component analysis
