Abstract The basic idea of this thesis is to detect numerically and experimentally features of structural damage from the variation of natural frequencies of damaged thin metal plates with respect to healthy one. Two damage detection methods were presented to detect the natural frequency shift. The first method is to use the shift in the peaks of frequency response functions, FRF{u2019}s, and the second one is to use the beating phenomenon. Two beating-based methodologies were used to detect the damaged-healthy natural frequency shifts |
