Abstract 30 patients with MS who met the 2017 McDonald criteria were included in this study. The most prevalent illness course was RRMS, and the most prevalent clinical presenting symptom was a visual impairment. In this study, the EDSS score ranged from 0 to 4, and the disease duration ranged from 1 to 5 years. DIR is considered the best pulse sequence that provides high accuracy for cortical grey matter lesions detection. In this study it detected more cortical lesions at the expense of FLAIR and T2WI sequences. It showed better anatomical characterization and delineation of the lesions than other examined sequences. It also revealed more white matter lesions than other sequences especially juxtacortical lesions which are characteristic for MS. We discovered a significant association between the amount of cortical grey matter lesions diagnosed using DIR and the EDSS score, which is thought to be a major benefit of using DIR for overcoming the clinico-radiological contradiction in multiple sclerosis. |
