Abstract Obesity is considered a major health problem affecting a lot of children all over the world with a wide range of comorbidities. One of these complications is renal injury and obesity related renal disease, so it is necessary to find markers for early detection of renal injury. The current cross-sectional study was conducted in the Obesity clinic at Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolism Pediatric Unit, Cairo University. It included 120 obese children and adolescents between 8 to 15 years old not complaining of any chronic illness compared to 45 non-obese children. The level of NGAL was detected in urine samples ofthe study group and 94 cases were found normal with 78.3% percentage and 26 cases were found high with 21.7% percentage giving 91.7 % sensitivity and 86.5٪specificity in diagnosis of renal disease . |
