Abstract Background: ACTIVA Bio ACTIVE-CEMENT is an ionic resin cement indicated for indirect applications. It stimulates mineral apatite crystal formation at the material-tooth interface. This natural remineralization process knits together the restoration and the tooth, penetrates, and fills microgaps, and seals margins against microleakage and failure. This would be the first randomized clinical trial to validate the clinical performance of Active Cement in cemention of CAD/CAM Composite Blocks over 1 year. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate marginal integrity of indirect composite restoration after cementation by a bioactive cement in comparison to dual cure resin cement using modified USPHS criteria after different follow up periods (either immediate, 6 months and one year) Methods and Materials: In two parallel groups (n= 36 restorations), participants having badly broken vital teeth minimum of two remaining wall were randomly enrolled in this trial and received resin composite blocks (Brilliant, Coltene, Switzerland) were cemented either with Active cement (Activa BioACTIVE) or Dual cure resin cement according to the manufacturers’ instructions with the corresponding adhesive system. The restorations were assessed using modified USPHS criteria by two independent blinded assessors at baseline and 1-year follow up visits. Data was obtained and analyzed using Independent Student-t test, Chi-square and McNemar test for inter and intragroup comparisons. The significance level was set at P ≤ 0.05. Results:All the 36 participants completed the trial. There was no statistically significant difference between both tested materials for all USPHS criteria Conclusions:Both materials showed an acceptable successful clinical performance along 1-year follow-up period. Clinical relevance:The use of active cement could be considered a reliable choice in Cementation of indirect Composite restoration |
