Abstract

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation refers to the intravenous infusion of hematopoietic progenitor cells to reestablish marrow function in a patient after a course of chemoradiotherapy. In recent years, the spectrum of pulmonary complications following hematopoietic stem cell has changed increasingly from infectious to non-infectious etiologies with the judicious use of broad-spectrum antimicrobial prophylaxis. Non infectious respiratory complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplant such as diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, to chronic progressive small airway disease like bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome and include vascular complications like pulmonary veno-occlusive disease and cytolytic thrombi and graft versus host disease. Aim of the study: this study aimed to study non infectious respiratory complications in patients subjected to allogeneic bone marrow transplant.
