Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease affecting the central nervous system, where immune cells attack self-myelin sheath. Myelin sheath is a protective insulating layer surrounding nerve axons. The myelin sheath function is mainly to protect neurons and accelerate signal transduction, therefore myelin damage would result in slower and lower signal transfer followed by nerve axons damage and loss of functions (1). Symptoms of MS varies according to the site of injured nerves including; optic neuritis, tremors, lack of coordination, numbness or weakness of limbs, slurred speech, fatigue, sub-acute motor function loss and pain. |
