Abstract The present study was conducted to evaluate the current status of water and fish quality in Lake Manzala. The Lake is conceder as one of the largest lakes in north eastern part of Egypt. It has been recognized as the most productive fishery ground of the country’s lakes. The lake is subjected and susceptible to contamination from soil, domestic, agricultural, industrial and sewage wastes. Therefore, many procedures were carried out to measure some pollution indicators and their impacts on fish quality in the lake. These indicators includes physicochemical characteristics of water such as temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solid, total dissolved solid, ammonia, chemical oxygen demand, Biological oxygen bond, Transparent, Turbidity, Electric conductivity, nitrate, nitrite, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, bicarbonate, chloride, sulphate, total viable bacterial, fecal coliforms, aeromonas spp , vibrio spp , iron , manganese , copper , lead, cadmium and zinc heavy metals. Results showed that: Temperature was ranged from 14.7°C in Bahr al-Bakr area during spring to 32.6 °C in EL-Kaboty area during autumn, pH was ranged from6.5in EL-Kaboty area during summer and autumn to 9.0 in EL-Boughaz area during summer, Salinity was ranged from 2.4 mgl-1 in Bahr al-Bakr area during spring to 17.3 mgl-1 in EL-Boughaz area during summer. |
