Abstract The aim of the study was to assess the effect of using cyanoacrylate tissueadhesive as an additional mean of fixation of free gingival graft (FGG) on graftshrinkageand success rate Methodology:10patientssufferingfrominadequatezoneofkeratinizedmucosareceived a FGG harvested from the palate fixed with cyanoacrylate tissue adhesivebesidesutures. Results: Grafts healed with no clinical significant signs of infection and bleedingduringfirst 3 months follow up period. The significantly highest amount of shrinkage occurred from baseline to 3 months(28.04% ± 14.12). This was followed by that observed from baseline to 1 month post-operative(20.58%±11.05).Whilethesignificantlyleastamountofshrinkageoccurred from 1 month to 3 months (9.84% ± 8.36). statistically significant differenceinamount of shrinkageatdifferent timeintervals(P<0.001). thesuccess ratewas 100% Conclusion: Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive is a material that can be used in FGGfixation beside sutures due to it’s antimicrobial, hemostatic and good tissuecompatibilitywithoutforeign-bodyresponse withlowpercentageofshrinkageandhighsuccess rate |
