Abstract
L
eukemia is a heterogeneous group of disorders, caused by a neoplastic transformation in blood cell precursors during their differentiation in bone marrow. It is the most prevalent malignancy in children and represents nearly 30% of all malignancies, with 75% of cases corresponding to acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Our goal was to define the MRI findings brought on by leukemia’s involvement with CNS structures and treatment-related CNS side effects, and to evaluate their usefulness in the early management and prevention of long-term side effects.
This was a prospective observational study included 52 children with leukemia carried out at Children’s Hospital, Ain Shams University during the period from January 2020 to May 2022.
All patients undergone MR examination using a 1.5 and 3 T machine (Philips medical system, Eindhoven, Netherlands)

Regarding MRI finding of CNS, leukemic infiltration was found in 42.3%, subvolimic changes in 76.9% , PRES was present in 19.2%, venous thrombosis present in 30.8% and post treatment complications were found in 7.7%.
