Abstract

The commonest repairs to correct anterior (distal) hypospadias are the
Tabularized Incised Plate (TIP) urethroplasty (10), Duplay (1874), Mathieu (1932),
and Meatal Advancement and Glanuloplasty Incorporated (MAGPI) (11). TIP
urethroplasty and Mathieu’s have been widely practiced. (12)
Tabularized incised plate urethroplasty has been widely accepted during the
last 2 decades for management of the distal hypospadias. (13)
Unfortunately, repair even with proper surgical skills can be associated with
numerous complications, including urethrocutaneous fistula, meatal stenosis,
glanular dehiscence, stricture, and urethral diverticulum. The propensity for
complicated repairs was significantly higher in patients with a flat and narrow
urethral plate than in patients with a deeply grooved and wide urethral plate due to
the greater degree of mobilization required.(14) The impact of the width of the
urethral plate on the outcome remained a debatable issue, to date
