Abstract

The electrochemical determination of some catecholamine neurotransmitters and drugs was enhanced at modified electrodes by graphene, ionic liquid crystal and cyclodextrins film. Electrochemical measurements showed that the presence of ionic liquid crystal enhances the reversibility and the stability of the redox signals also showed higher electrocatalytic activity towards the studied compounds. Moreover, the inclusion of iron nanoparticles into the graphene sheets strongly increases their electrocatalytic properties towards the compounds of study in presence of ionic liquid crystal. Different parameters relevant to sensors were considered such as the sensitivity, selectivity, stability of the redox signals, as well as detection limits. Ionic liquid crystal was used as a catalyst support for some electrocatalysts such as Pt-Ru that can be used for electrochemical oxidation of small organic molecules such as methanol. Presence of ionic liquid crystal as a catalyst support showed higher electrocatalytic activity than in case of its absence
